Job Summary

The Regional Six Sigma Black Belt (BB) is a “High Caliber” data driven Problem Solver specializing in solving complex issues. The regional BB will train, coach and lead major breakthrough initiatives to successful completion and with that captures significant growth opportunities in the organization. Additionally the regional BB plays a key role in developing problem solving capability by training & coaching Six Sigma DMAIC Green Belts (GBs) and Site Six Sigma Black Belts (BBs) and problem solvers using the 8 Step A3 approach and DMAIC, where appropriate. The Regional Black Belt is a change agent and role model for leading change and Lean transformation, and is a candidate for Master Black Belt certification.

Job Responsibilities

  • Role modelling a culture that is aligned to the GKN Aerospace “Great Place to Work” value drivers and Culture Principles
  • Exemplifying safety-first mindset and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are applied across GKNA and that all locations are a model of a world class healthy and safe working environment
  • Driving the disciplined and rigorous execution of complex data driven problem solving (Black Belt projects as well as Kaizen Events) as part of the LEM deployment across their assigned region of responsibility
  • A Six Sigma DMAIC BB Certification from a reputable certifying body or benchmark company. Otherwise, evidence of equivalency in practice and the commitment to GKNA certification
  • Identified as an MBB candidate and capable to progress towards certification 
  • An understanding of Lean Thinking and Lean Leadership
  • The demonstrated ability to influence at the BL Operational Leadership, Regional, Site Management, Group Leader and Team Leader level, as well as the enabling function
  • Excellent Project Management skills, able to navigate through complex project stakeholder situations

Job Qualifications

Required: 

BS degree, or equivalent, in an Engineering or Science discipline

 Previous experience in Lean Transformation

 A passion for the Aerospace industry
