Job Summary
The Commodity Manager is responsible for managing all procurement expenditure and product related services, this must also include the development of the Strategic Relationships with existing and future Suppliers , whilst ensuring requirements are met on time and in accordance with the appropriate quality standards, delivering a highly capable and cost effective supply base, focus must be on developing and implementation of the Commodity SCM Strategy, giving leadership and direction to the commodity management teams and other areas of Supply Chain management when required.
The Commodity Manager will lead the relevant commodity management products and services for all operating sites globally on behalf of the division and function. The role entails operating at a senior level with a high degree of autonomy, whilst managing, mentoring and developing an effective commodity management team, delivering cost effective solutions for all global sites. A key element of the role is to ensure the commodity management strategy is aligned to the individual site and programme requirements, whilst ensuring ultimate value generation for the business. There will also be a requirement to lead commodity management projects on behalf of the wider GKN Aerospace business, relevant site and programme.
Job Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed profit plan goals related to commodities including: Cost Savings, economics, working capital, quality, supplier rationalization, Low cost sourcing and other agreed objectives.
- Take Leadership when required for commodity resourcing activities in coordination with costing and engineering to drive a competitive advantage for GKN Aerospace.
- Support in the development, coordinate and steer category strategies for the relevant commodities
- Lead, motivate, support and develop Procurement staff members relating to the relevant commodity core team members.
- Support the Make or Buy decisions, prepare data and plans for relevant commodity gate reviews.
- Support efforts concerning supply base rationalization and supplier development.
- Ensure we are Leveraging synergies across the GKN global network.
- Improvement of program profitability PLP and OPBI through continuous improvement, smart global sourcing strategies, whilst ensure technology insertion to remain competitive in the global market throughout the programme life cycle.
- Ensuring the cost, quality and time-oriented supply of all required products and services in line with the respective business plans, budgets, targets, and strategies.
- Work in partnership with the Procurement Emerging Markets team to ensure we are meeting the customers’ expectations on developing a Strategic Global Supply Chain network.
- Contract Negotiation: Cost, quality, delivery, cash, compliance and ensure full adherence to the GKN standard contracting terms and conditions, whilst ensuring any specific customer. requirements are captured and flowed down to mitigate any exposure and risk to GKN.
- Contract Management : Ensure there is a strict governance in accordance with the contractual obligations between GKN and the relevant supplier via regular contract reviews to ensure supplier contract performance is in line with contractual requirements.
- Conflict Management: In the event of non-performance to the contractual terms the category manager will manage all areas of the contract ensuring that as a minimum GKN are held harmless.
- Ownership of the Strategic Relationship: The Category manager will ensure there are regular Strategic Reviews which will include all Senior Key Stakeholders, reviews will cover all significant commercial, industrial performance and forward deliverables.
- Succession Planning within the Commodity Global network.
- Management of delegated budgets, when applicable.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Procurment and Supply, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
- 8 (eight) years Category Management / Commodity experience
- 3 (three) years in Aerospace industry
- US Person per ITAR regulations and able to comply with export compliance requirements.
