Job Summary

With direct supervision, our engineering interns and co-ops will aid in developing large scale metallic additive manufacturing for titanium aerostructures. Responsibilities may include operation of large scale robotic additive manufacturing cells, programming, data analysis, manufacturing documentation writing, titanium machining, or other engineering support activities. 
Our Spring Internship opportunity starts as early as January and will last 12 – 24 weeks.  It requires a minimum of 20 hours per week, but will work around student life with flexible hours such as split shifts. We are hiring an Engineering Intern in our Lake Worth, TX facility.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working on challenging projects and supporting the product development team for additively manufactured titanium aerostructures. 
  • Helping to maintain performance within your team and for GKN as a company
  • Building relationships both within GKN and with our external partners, collaborating across functions, segments and teams to deliver excellence.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems. 
  • Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production. 
  • Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances. 
  • Facilitate improvements in production processes by implementing Lean initiatives and leaning forward.
  • All other duties as assigned by Manager.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an engineering field such as: Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
  • Local candidates only (relocation, work sponsorship and/or housing not available).
  • Team player with excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications.
  • Must be a US Persons (US Citizen, Green Card Holder / US permanent resident, refugee or asylee) to meet ITAR and export control compliance requirements

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with LabView
  • Programming experience in Python, C++, or similar
  • Capability to work effectively in a variety of engineering and manufacturing assignments.
  • Experience with CNC machining and G-Code programming
  • Keen interest in the Aerospace Manufacturing industry. 
  • Interest, experience, and/or passion for additive manufacturing
  • Effective communication and writing skills.  Attention to detail is critical.
  • Experience with hardware integration such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino, etc device integration
