Job Summary

The Contracts Director position requires past experience in managing a diverse group of international contracting professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.  We are seeking an individual with a thorough understanding of contracting principles, ability to think strategically, develop innovative solutions to a variety of unusually complex problems, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to influence, organize, schedule, coordinate and lead teams assigned to cover various objectives. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Direct work and supervise team of diverse contracts professionals in an integrated program team environment to ensure high level of contract management and capabilities.
  • Implement, administer, monitor and improve contracts policies, programs, processes, and systems within the Defense business line.
  • Manage large, complex contracts of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction.
  • Review solicitations, bids and proposals, assess (in coordination with Legal and Compliance) the applicability of laws and regulations and develop proposal strategies in coordination with the larger integrated program team and procurement.
  • Analyze material estimates, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.  Prepare bids and proposals.
  • Advise executive leadership of contractual rights, remedies, and risks, including interpretation of terms and conditions and risk mitigation strategies. 
  • Prepare and execute negotiation strategies to achieve GKN’s business objectives. Ensure that the final contract documents are consistent with agreements reached during negotiations.
  • Evaluate contract performance to determine the necessity for amendments, modifications, or extensions of contracts.  Lead the change management process with internal team and communicate equitable adjustment rights to customers.
  • Compile and analyze data as required.  Maintain historical contract and program information.

Job Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 15+ years of experience in Federal Government and commercial contracting
  • 5+ years of experience in the Aerospace and/or Defense industry
  • 3+ years of experience leading/managing a team
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contract management leadership experience
  • Experience managing an international team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex business and contracts issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence others.
  • Familiarity with various agreement types, such as non-disclosure/proprietary information agreements, teaming agreement, basic ordering agreements, bailment agreements, and CRADAs.
  • Familiarity with various contract types, including firm, fixed price and cost-type contracts.
  • Strong analytical skills; able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work within and across groups.
  • Ability to manage significant work volume in a very dynamic business and compliance environment.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment and be able to quickly understand facts and assumptions to decisively recommend a future course of action.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, including internationally.
