Job Summary

 

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for the creation of planning, sequencing and designing of manufacturing processes.  As well as leading teams to identify and implement LEAN and APQP defined improvements.

Job Responsibilities

 

•    Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, processing, machining and material handling.
•    Prepares Bill of Materials and sequence of operation sheets from blueprints, engineering orders, change notices, and other engineering releases for both machining of parts and/or fabrication of assemblies.  
•    Supports work specific to detail parts manufacturing and assembly operations within a manufacturing environment.
•    Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
•    Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. 
•    Provides technical support and assistance with the development and improvement of methods, quality product design, cost, and technical issues of a complex manner as required.
•    Spends a large percentage of each day in a shop environment interfacing with machining/assembly staff in order to identify additional LEAN and Zero Defect (APQP) opportunities. 
•    Leads numerous LEAN/Zero Defect (APQP) teams pursuing identification and implementation of continual improvement plans

Job Qualifications

 

Required qualifications:


 
•    Bachelors' degree in Manufacturing Engineering or other related field.
•    6+ years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing.
•    2+ years of Catia experience
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.  

 

Preferred qualifications:


   
•    Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
•    Configuration Management knowledge and BOM control
•    Experience working with machining and/or assembly operations.
•    ERP Planning experience 
•    Practical Problem Solving
•    Strong analytical skills.
•    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and/or specifications requirements.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•    Working knowledge of, or exposure to, Lean Manufacturing and Zero Defect (APQP) tools and processes
•    Familiarity with A3/8D type root cause analysis methods
•    Demonstrated use of 3D modeling software
•    Familiarity with 737, 777, 787 engineering datasets
•    Technical Skills; e.g. metallurgy, chemistry, NDT, etc.
•    Working knowledge of aircraft assembly, sequencing and manufacturing flow.
•    Ability to multitask.
•    Strong organizational skills
