Job Summary

Our manufacturing methods are used in several high-profile projects, including the production of critical components for engines.
We are looking for a senior process engineer with experience in fusion welding processes to enhance the design engineering capability at GKN Aerospace Engine Systems in Trollhättan, Sweden. You will join a team of experienced materials and process engineers dedicated to technology, product development and product support.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining GKN design manufacturing process standards and design practices for the area of expertise. You will monitor process outcome by working closely with manufacturers. You will drive improvement work within safety, quality and process robustness with manufacturing efficiency and product safety in focus.
You will be expected to work with qualifications, reviews and approval of repair procedures for new production within GKN design. You will also contribute to the substantiation of maintenance procedures in repair manuals as applicable.
As part of supply chain control, you will contribute to approval of suppliers and audits with your technical expertise and your knowledge of GKN quality system. You will engage in the Aerospace program NADCAP to communicate GKN requirements and monitor outcomes. You will also provide technical support to the manufacturing organizations.
You will support technology development initiatives as a member of project teams. First of all, by contributing to demonstrator projects. Through your interactions with materials engineers, design and analyses engineers, simulation engineers, you will contribute to process selection, design of welded assemblies and drive design for manufacturing. Your role will be central in planning, following and reviewing process verification and qualification activities.
Later, during product development phase, you will be a key participant in design teams and contribute to setting and reviewing requirements on product definitions.
Your daily responsibilities will focus on ensuring safety, quality and delivery, while also identifying and driving improvement initiatives for long-term success. You will be able to share your ideas and questions and have the opportunity to challenge yourself every day.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications
- MSc degree in materials science or manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
- A minimum of 6 years of industrial experience within fusion welding processes and process control
- Very good understanding for material behavior under various welding conditions and post-processes, heat treatments for example.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to write technical documents. Proficiency in Swedish is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- International Welding Engineer (IWE) certification
- Experience from the aerospace industry connected to manufacturing processes
- Experience with aerospace materials such as titanium and nickel-based alloys
- Experience of characterization of weldments through laboratory analyses
- Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Interest in robotics and automation
- Interest or experience in simulation of manufacturing processes
