Job Summary

The Engineering function is where we at GKN Aerospace work together to develop new products and maintain current ones. To fulfill this, we work closely with research, production, and customers. We are a large community of solid mechanics engineers, and our combined skills make us a world-class player in the mechanical engineering of aerospace engine products.

Job Responsibilities

Working in one or two multi-disciplinary product teams representing the solid mechanics capabilities, could be for production support, product development or technology.

Conducting advanced solid mechanics analysis, including fatigue life, strength, and stability analyses for various engine components under different running conditions.

Responsible for solid mechanics analysis required to justify components that, for various reasons, deviate from the intended design.

Inspire to method development initiatives or other improvement initiatives to standardize, automate and improve our way of working.

Support method specialist in the field by helping the team to follow design practices and suggest improvements when a need presents.

Job Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Applied Mechanics or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in solid mechanics investigations, analysis and verifications of jet engine components. Skilled in fatigue life assessment, strength and stability analysis. Also experienced in weld analysis and in applying additive manufacturing characteristics to structural analysis.
  • Very strong ability to draw conclusions from analyses and to effectively communicate those conclusions in both speech and writing to various types of audiences.
  • A problem solver energized when facing technical challenges.
  • Moves from details to the big picture and overall trends, ability to judge what needs to be done and what does not.
  • Extensive expertise in ANSYS and other FEA tools and complex coding challenges. 
  • Ability to create plans that are easy to understand, follow, track, and adjust, with natural milestones, moderately detailed.
  • Experience in and big interest in developing and maintaining the knowledge within a discipline team

Location and travel expectations: This position is based in Trollhättan, Sweden, as such, the applicant should be able to gain the right to live and work in Sweden. Travel to other locations within Sweden as well as EU is expected.
