About the role

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable engineer in materials technology to strengthen our Department for Manufacturing and Materials at GTC in Trollhättan. Your primary responsibilities in this role will be to develop knowledge and understanding of new materials and their behavior in applications for existing and future aerospace application. As a specialist in the field of materials you will be a key player in our research and technology development activities. The task will include improvement and optimization of material as well as exploring new materials to be used in future products. The GTC team consists of engineers covering many different disciplines ranging from product design, analysis, material, manufacturing and testing were your contribution as a leader for the materials part will be vital to our success. The role will also include tight interaction with the research communities through joint project. We collaborate with both national and international universities and institutes and we hope that you can take a key role in this collaboration.

Job responsibilities

  • Responsible for development and improvements of metallic materials to be used in aerospace application.
  • Responsible for development and improvements of surface modification and coatings to be used in aerospace application.
  • Perform microscopical analysis and conduct mechanical testing for evaluations of materials characteristics
  • Contribute to material selections for new product applications
  • Maintain and develop technology relationships and partnerships with key national and international academic bodies within the technical field of materials.
  • Contribute to defining the detailed content of new R&T programs
  • Be an active contributor in larger project teams taking “Microstructure” to “Flight”

Job Qualifications

  • MSc. Degree or higher in Materials Engineering or other relevant engineering field.
  • Expertise in surface coating or surface modification technology is considered advantageous during the evaluation
  • Experience from research and development in materials technology
  • Knowledge and understanding about aerospace metallic materials such as Ni based alloys and Ti alloys is advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate results and conclusions
  • Proficiency both in Swedish and English

Person Specification

You have a background as an engineer and like to solve challenging tasks. You enjoy working in teams were a joint project goal is a common goal that everyone is trying to meet. You also have a strong interest in aerospace and would like to contribute to the challenges of aviation.
