Role Purpose


The IT department at GKN Aerospace Sweden in Trollhättan, with 60 employees, is responsible for development and support of Infrastructure and Application services both for the Swedish site and globally. The enterprise platform is based on Windows, and Linux is mainly used for the Engineering area. The position is within the infrastructure department that consists of 11 employees serving the Nordics and global sites.

As an infrastructure engineer for the Linux area you have the responsibility for quality, sustain and lifecycle planning within the Linux services as server, client and storage. You will also work with shared services between Linux and Windows. You will support the business in new initiatives/requirements and participate in related IT projects.

Key Responsibilities


  • Planning in line with our company´s IT strategy and business requirement
  • Deployments, operations, lifecycle management and upgrades
  • Produce hardware specifications for purchase
  • Automation, standardization and scripting
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Virtualization and Red Hat Satellite
  • Manage, prioritize and resolve support desk tickets as 2nd line support
  • Information and documentation

Job Qualifications


You are an outgoing, open-minded and positive person with ability to manage continuous improvements.

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience of system administration in a similar Linux environment
  • HPC and queue system experience
  • Proficient in Swedish and English
  • Interesting and aware of current and emerging technologies
  • A true team player that works on own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think and act independently
  • Ambitious, drive to develop yourself and those around you




  • Meritorious are Red Hat certifications like RHCE and RHCSA
  • Meritorious are scripting skills in Python and Bash
  • Meritorious are container platform experience
  • Meritorious are Netapp storage experience
  • Meritorious are Windows Server, Client and Powershell experience



This position requires that you will be approved in a security screening in accordance with the Swedish Protective Security Act. Fluent in Swedish and English, both speaking and writing is a demand.
