Job Summary
The IT department at GKN Aerospace Sweden in Trollhättan, with 90 employees, is responsible for development and support of Infrastructure and Application services both for the Swedish site and globally. The enterprise platform is based on Windows, and Linux is mainly used for the Engineering area. The position is within the infrastructure department that consists of 14 employees serving the Nordics and global sites.
As a Linux engineer, you develop, maintain and administer our Linux (Red Hat) systems and related hardware in accordance with GKN standards and industry’s best practices. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving system and hardware problems. Documents, tracks, monitors, and communicates problems and business risks to ensure timely resolution and compliance. You will be the third Linux engineer in our team..
Job responsibility
• Deliver Linux Red Hat based systems to agreed SLA
• Deploy industry best practice approaches and standards
• Be part of implementation and refresh projects
• Actively works with automating the IT infrastructure delivery
• Troubleshoot/resolve problems associated with the Linux environment
• Work with hardware/software vendors to resolve technical support issues
• Work with the following Key Processes:
o Event Management; monitoring, measuring against SLA, triggering and reporting
o Incident Management; log all incidents and resolve as quickly as possible
o Change Management; process approved changes from Build into Run
o Request Management; manage all requests to resolution or escalation
o Asset & Configuration Management; manage resources and configurations required to deliver services to agreed SLA
Qualifications and personal attributes
• Relevant IT Degree or equivalent experience
• Self-driven with a motivation to deliver best in class services to the business
• Experienced Linux Engineer, preferably within a medium to large company
• Good communication skills in English and Swedish – both verbal and written.
• Working tight with other team members
• Be open to learning new things and like to take on new challenges
