Are you interested to join our team at GKN to create the Digital Factory of the Future  at the Global Technology Center (GTC) in Trollhättan?

Driven by the vision of sustainable aerospace innovation, GKN Aerospace develop new design concepts for lower weight and integrated functionality for future aviation. The Global Technology Center develops the next generation designs, materials, manufacturing methods and digital factory solutions for GKN Engines.

The Global Technology Center (GTC) in Trollhättan are looking for a Discrete Event Simulation Engineer with interest in developing and building our Digital Factories of the Future. You like to create and execute plans as well as some hands on programming. 

You have a desire for both planning, budgeting and execution in terms of programming and practical work. You will interact with manufacturing value streams in operations. Working with technology development will require a self-driven character and that one take ownership to independently progress your tasks.

The GTC have around 80 employees and is a part of GKN Aerospace Engine System. The GTC develop technologies and run development programs for product demonstration of new design concepts, often in the framework national and EU-programs together with OEM customers. The GTC competence spends over turbomachine design, product development, advanced material, manufacturing technologies and digitalization.

We are located at GKN site in Trollhättan and we have our manufacturing laboratory at Innovatum in Trollhättan city, where you will be located.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop new applications for Discrete Event Simulation(DES) in the technology engineering department to support new digitalization technologies
  • Develop new application for DES within the context of big data, machine learning and AI
  • Work closely with manufacturing engineering to develop DES models to support Process design and development for new value streams.
  • Work closely with Operation manufacturing engineering to support continuous improvement implementation


The work is performed jointly with your team colleagues, through internal technology development projects and in research projects often done in bilateral or multilateral collaboration with our GKN colleagues, industry and academic partners and customers.

Job Qualifications

  • 3+ years of DES simulation with focus on established production systems or new production systems.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience connected to different types of topologies
  • BS or MS Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and/or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive detailed material flow analysis experience to make data-driven decisions and summarize results for executives
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to drive projects with diverse teams in a complex manufacturing environment with high traceability demands.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills in English and Swedish.
  • Extensive experience with 3D discrete event simulation software (Siemens Plant Simulation preferred)
  • Experience with layouts in CAD software and 3D scanning software.
