Job Summary
The Operations Director is accountable for achieving the People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost targets through the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model. This role is accountable for attaining Operational Excellence across their Value Streams, in line with the Performance Centre objectives. The Operations Director is accountable for creating a "great place to work" through developing first class leaders and driving a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue.
Job Responsibilities
- Role modelling a culture that is aligned to the GKN Aerospace "A Great Place to Work" value drivers and Culture Principles
- Exemplifying a safety-first mindset and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are applied and that their Value Streams are a model of a world class healthy and safe working environment
- Developing first-class leaders who are readily able to progress to the next level of leadership, when required, and who embody the GKNA culture principles
- Leading and developing the Value Stream Teams in the delivery of People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) targets, meeting customer and stakeholder commitments
- Driving the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across their Value Streams, with active involvement in problem solving and the management system. "Go to Gemba" is the approach taken to understand and solve problems
- Contributing to the site strategy as part of the site Leadership Team, and ensuring its execution across their Value Streams
- Holding the site's functional leadership accountable for deploying the Global standards and enabling the Value Stream teams to meet their targets
- Ensuring the disciplined execution of Daily Management through the conscientious adherence to Leader Standard Work
- Complying with all legal and regulatory requirements and ensuring that staff are aware of the policies and their individual responsibilities and accountabilities:

Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or other related fields.
- Minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an operations leadership and/or supervisory capacity.
- U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- GKN Experience
- Master's Degree in Business or Engineering related field.
- Experience working with a Lean Operating Model / Production System
- Lean or Six Sigma certification by a reputable certifying body or benchmark company
- Aerospace supply chain experience
- Knowledge of government contracting process and proprietary contracts development
- A passion for the Aerospace industry
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- A deep understanding of metric driven performance management
- The demonstrated ability to influence across functional lines
- Ability to lead, coach and mentor experienced direct reports
- A track record of Leadership and direction through effective communications, building effective teams
- Evidence of working within a site governed through a Business Management System (BMS)
