Job Summary

Manages Shop Floor Scheduling activities in the Production Area. It includes the management of visual systems to communicate / monitor the sequence of production orders, ensuring the availability of resources (tooling, raw materials; etc.), Create and maintain the optimal production sequence.

Job Responsibilities

Production Scheduling Responsibilities

  • Sequence work orders in line with current demand requirements and the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for assigned products and production lines, while considering all physical capacity and staffing constraints.
  • Monitor daily manufacturing performance against the production schedule, identifying, investigating, and challenging any deviations from standard performance.
  • Review stock coverage daily to prevent both stockouts and excess inventory by adjusting production sequencing where possible or escalating concerns to the Master Scheduler.
  • Maximize the utilization of shared manufacturing resources while maintaining alignment with the MPS regarding product mix, production volumes, and required availability dates.

 

Ensure the production schedule

  • Is feasible, balanced, and achievable.
  • Includes all planned downtime, such as holidays, routine maintenance, and line closures.
  • Is supported by available packaging materials, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and staffing resources.
  • Monitor the availability of raw materials and components, escalating risks and shortages to Procurement and/or the Master Scheduler as appropriate.
  • Proactively communicate and escalate potential production constraints or execution issues to the Master Scheduler and Production Management to enable preventative actions and minimize supply risk.
  • Track, analyze, and report schedule adherence on a weekly basis, including root causes for deviations, to Production Area Management and the Master Scheduler.

 

APQC Process Ownership

  • APQC 4.3.5 – Schedule Production - Responsible for site-level execution of the Level 3 process and associated Level 4 production scheduling activities.
  • APQC 4.3.6 – Schedule Production Operations - Responsible for site-level execution of the Level 3 process and associated Level 4 production operations scheduling activities.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

•    High school diploma
•    3 years’ planning/scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment or Bachelor degree in supply chain or logistics
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements
 

Preferred Qualifications:

•    GKN experience
•    Aerospace manufacturing experience
•    Ability to create pivot tables & perform V-lookups in Microsoft Excel
•    ERP/MRP experience
•    APICS Certification
