Lab Technician

Description of Duties

  • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of ANSI Z540-1, MIL-STD-45662A, and the applicable government and customer calibration standards.
  • Documents all M&TE used in the processing or in the inspection verification of product to our customers.  Verifies all calibration of M&TE used in the processing or in the inspection verification of product to our customers.  Establishes & maintains a monthly recall list for distribution and notification of M&TE due for calibration.
  • Works with purchasing to procure qualified suppliers for calibration of M&TE done off-site
  • Creates technical calibration procedures to calibrate equipment in-house.  Completes ROI for equipment required and become efficient at the task of calibration.  Learns and develops hands-on proficiency with equipment.
  • Controls the calibration budget by tracking/posting on an agreed upon basis with management.
  • Performs other assignments and tasks as required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
  • Two (2) years of post secondary engineering or technical college education is highly desired.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years work experience in hands-on operational quality or related experience with calibration tools/systems required. 

REQUIRED KNOWLDGEG IN:

  • Understanding of Military & Industry standards, and Government specifications, with regard to M&TE calibration and control is highly desired. 

REQUIRED SKILL IN:

  • Working knowledge of technical mathematics including algebra, geometry, and basic mathematical theories.
  • Ability to: read and interpret drawings, specifications, written instructions, and perform complex equipment trouble-shooting and calibration of equipment is required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to function individually and as part of a team is required.

 

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:    ASQC certification as a Certified Mechanical Inspector is highly desired.
