Job Summary

Under direct supervision, the Composite Assembly Operator – Level I performs a variety of standard, generally repetitive manufacturing activities involved in the fabrication, assembly, and machine operations required to manufacture composite parts or assemblies. This role provides hands-on support to higher-level Assembly II personnel and contributes to the safe, timely, and high-quality production of aerospace components in accordance with established work instructions, quality standards, and safety regulations. This is an entry level role and training will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Assembly Support

  • Assist Assembly II personnel in assembling parts, fittings, or subassemblies on aircraft using layout tools, hand tools, power tools, and fasteners such as bolts, screws, rivets, or clamps
  • Assist in the assembly of prototypes or integrated-technology demonstrators for new or emerging aircraft environmental technologies by following detailed product specifications and instructions
  • Assist in attaching brackets, hinges, clips, or other hardware to secure or support components and subassemblies using mechanical fasteners, chemical bonding, or welding processes
  • Clean, oil, coat, or otherwise prepare components and materials prior to assembly or attachment as required
  • Assist in joining major structural assemblies such as wings, tails, or fuselage sections in accordance with work order requirements and specifications
  • Layout, Alignment & Fit
  • Assist Assembly II personnel in laying out, marking, and identifying reference points for installation of parts or components using jigs, templates, and measuring or marking instruments
  • Position and align subassemblies in jigs or fixtures using measuring instruments while following blueprint lines, index points, and work instructions
  • Verify dimensions, alignment, and fit of cable assemblies, fittings, or components using approved measuring devices
  • Assist in ensuring proper fitness and clearance by cutting, trimming, filing, bending, or smoothing parts as required
  • Assist Assembly II personnel in fabricating parts required for assembly or installation using shop machinery or manufacturing equipment
  • Splice cables using clamps and fittings or by reweaving cable strands
  • Assist in splicing seals or tubing using approved bonding materials and processes

Identification, Documentation & Quality

  • Assist Assembly II personnel in marking identifying information on tubing or cable assemblies using labels, etching devices, rubber stamps, or other approved identification methods
  • Follow work instructions, blueprints, specifications, and routing documentation accurately
  • Notify supervision of any quality concerns, defects, or deviations from specifications

Safety, Environmental & Housekeeping

  • Capture and segregate waste materials such as aluminum swarf, machining cutting fluids, solvents, and other materials for recycling or environmentally responsible disposal in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and hazard control requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) free work area
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 0-1 Years’ experience in production, warehouse, or manufacturing industry. 
  • Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance requirements, with ability to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance if needed. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior manufacturing experience preferred but not required
  • Experience in composite manufacturing, wrapping, or layup environments highly desired
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License preferred

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, drawings, and specifications
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining precision
  • Basic math skills related to measurements and tolerances
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to learn, accept direction, and develop aerospace manufacturing skills

 

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry materials up to weight 25–35 lbs.
  • Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery
  • PPE required (gloves, safety glasses, respirators, protective clothing as applicable)
