Job Summary

The Composite Operator role is responsible for carrying out the required standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance to the Work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromise to their own, and colleagues, safety.

Where required to achieve “certified” status, the team member will be taught how to undertake their tasks safely, and to a high quality level, through a rigorous Job Instruction process, and will be expected to attain the relevant certification, as measured by the competence matrix and specified in the site’s BMS/QMS.

The team member will be fully supported by their Team Leader (TL), who will enable their training, coaching and quickly respond to them if they find any off-standard / quality issues.

They will be expected to actively identify safety concerns (Hazard identification), make problems immediately known to their TL (Pull the Andon), and raise improvement ideas to solve problems (Kaizen).

They will be part of a team that will collectively work on creating a ‘Great Place To Work’ through a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue.

Job Responsibilities

  • Adjust machine controls by operating knobs, pressing buttons or other controls to alter position, alignment, speed, or pressure.
  • Insert materials into cutting machines, onto conveyors, or under cutting blades by feeding materials in.
  • Press buttons, pull levers, or depress pedals to start and operate cutting and slicing machines by following machine operation guidelines.
  • Select and install machine components, such as cutting blades, rollers, and templates, according to specifications by using hand tools
  • Start machine to verify setups, and make any necessary adjustments by following protocol for each machine
  • Examine and measure products to verify conformance to specifications by using measuring devices, such as rulers, micrometers, or scales
  • Remove completed materials or products from cutting or slicing machines, and stack or store them for additional processing by following work order specifications
  • Cut materials manually to prepare for machine cutting by using tools such as knives
  • Move materials or scrap to and from machine manually , or by using carts, hand trucks, or lift trucks by following proper procedures and specifications
  • Position material by pushing with your hands along cutting lines, or against stops on beds of the scoring or cutting machines.
