Job Summary

 

Chief Manufacturing Engineer (CME) is the technical leader for Manufacturing Engineering and is responsible for the manufacturing definition and ME related activities within the program/value stream through its lifecycle. The CME leads the multi-functional Manufacturing Engineering team that is deployed into the program and acts as the primary representative for ME at all program/technical reviews & with customer & suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

 

•Delivers a manufactuirng system that fulfills requirements including quality, design, producibility, business case etc
•Accountable for ME metrics such as Product Safety, Right First time measures, delivery and cost
•Selects the appropriate manufactuirng processes for delivery of design intent
•Validates the capability of a process and / or equipment and ensures that the requirements are suitably addressed
•Introduces new technology in line with business / program requirements
•Ensures adherence to all applicable quality processes and procedures
•Ensures safe working practices are maintained at all times
•Allocates task to team members inline with agreed schedule / budget
•Supports Make Vs Buy and subsequent supplier selection process
•Ensures internal and external reviews are completed and manages risks and lessons learnt

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor Degree in engineering or similar field is required, OR, in lieu of degree 15+ years of aerospace or equivalent manufacturing environment experience may be considered.
•10 years of practical experience in an aerospace or equivalent manufacturing environment including;
Composites manufacturing, Resource management, Budget, cost schedule, and resource management
Acting as a manufacturing engineering leader / authority on an aerospace program
Manufacturing engineering related process and data management, with related periodic reporting
• 1 year of experience acting as the Manufacturing Engineering technical lead / authority on aerospace or similar programs.
• 5 years composite manufacturing experience with demonstrated expertise in composite manufacturing processes and best practices.
• Due to export compliance, must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

Additional Qualifications:                                                                                                                                                            

 

• Desire 15-20 years practical experience/expertise in composite manufacturing
• Understanding of aerospace industry standards such as AS9100, National Aerospace Standards, SAE, US mil-standards, ISO9001, Nadcap, etc.
• Experience with OEM (Airbus, Boeing, Bell Helicopter, Sikorsky Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, etc.) supplier quality and certification requirements
• A thorough working knowledge of the various manufacturing production systems such as SIOP, MES, MRB, Planning, and QMS.
• Demonstrated people management success including hiring and performance management as well as maintaining high levels of engagement among the technical staff .
• Has the ability to work successfully within a matrix managed business, able to influence without direct authority.
• Innovative toward all aspects of the job.
• Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
• GKN Experience preferred
