Job Summary

This position requires strong leadership and technical skills to support the production tooling requirements of the organization. Recommend design improvements and identify opportunities for incorporating new technologies to support manufacturing. Drive continuous improvement activities, as well as process improvements within the Engineering group.  

Job Responsibilities

1) Review processes for new tooling and analyze existing tooling for improvement.
2) Lead and mentor less experienced engineers with their projects, and problems.
3) Responsible for ensuring parts, assemblies, and tools meet industry standards and customer requirements.
4) Prepares or directs the preparation of specifications, material lists, cost estimates and proposals.
5) Utilize root cause analysis and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
6) Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
7) Researching new suppliers and tooling concepts.
8) Provide tool engineering support to production departments.
9) Responsible for the implementation of tooling from original concept design through to production.  Responsible to validate the tooling functionality.
10) Schedule and coordinate timely preventive maintenance of tooling.
11) Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective performance.
12) Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline or combination of 10 years of education and relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 4 years of tooling experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain
  • Must be a US Person. Must comply with ITAR regulations and site SSA requirements.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering, engineering management, industrial management or business
  • Thorough knowledge of multiple engineering applications and process improvement skills.
  • Expertise in relevant technology and independently applies known principles and practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal and collaboration skills
