Job Summary

To lead, direct and control the planning, implementation and optimization of business unit, total quality systems to achieve the quality strategies and objectives of St. Louis Operations.  Ensures the delivery of quality products through effective internal and external interfaces.

Job Responsibilities


• Develop and implement business unit strategies and practices that contribute to a quality culture supporting the Company's overall business objectives and goals.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of an Accreditation Program for all GKN suppliers.
• Develop, implement and monitor key business unit, quality systems and procedures ensuring compliance with all internal and external customer requirements while supporting cost, schedule and budget requirements.
• Collaborate with the Audit Manager to ensure compliance to customer requirements and pro-actively support Engineering and Manufacturing to meet or exceed requirements.
• Interface with business functions to ensure effective negotiations with all current and proposed customers to establish contractual quality requirements and quality statement of work.
• Ensure technical expertise is provided to business unit personnel, suppliers, customers and regulatory agencies in support of compliance with contractual, company and regulatory requirements. 
• Develop a highly motivated, well-trained quality staff capable of meeting the short and long term staffing requirements of the department, the business unit and company.
• Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building.
• Lead a team of technical professionals, including Quality Engineers. Set individual and team goals. Provide coaching, mentoring, and discipline as needed. Ensure technical process adherence.
• Complete engineering skills and staffing plans. Facilitate knowledge management and retention planning. Ensure compliance to processes and procedures that govern engineers and program contracts.
• Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective performance.
• Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Business
• 8 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment
• 5 years in a management role
• Must have an active Secret Clearance
• Must be a US Citizen. Must comply with ITAR regulations and site SSA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

• GKN Experience.
• MBA
• Proficient with statistical software, Excel, Word, Access, Power Point and Project Management tools.
• Certified Quality Manager (CQM)
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven record of achieving performance and operational improvements in such areas as assurance of product quality, employee and supervisory training, manpower planning and employee relations, and utilizing a participative style of management.
