Job Summary

Define and review KPIs, perform analysis, drive continuous improvement projects, define methodology / standard work, manage and monitor performance in the area of logistics and material flow at site level. The role can cover the following (all or partially): Inbound / Receiving, internal material movements, warehousing, outbound / shipping, freight/transport management, cycle counting, inventory management, transactional activities, packaging.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe working environment
  • Define standard work for logistics activities with the objectives of reducing lead-time, reducing cost, improving customer service (quality and delivery)
  • Define and manage relationship with external partners (suppliers, sub-contractors, freight forwarders, 3PL, customers) in relation to the logistics activities (e.g. receiving/shipping schedules, documentation, EDI….)
  • Develop process to ensure transactional activities will guarantee inventory accuracy in the management system (ERP, MRP)
  • Analyze performance and defines action plans to improve in line with the site Supply Chain CI plan

 

The role of Logistics Specialist will be responsible in scope for developing process and improvement activities in the following APQC subjects for the relevant site(s):

  • 4.4 Manage logistics and warehousing
  • 4.4.2 “Plan and manage inbound material flow”
  • 4.4.3 “Operate warehousing”
  • 4.4.4 “Operate outbound transportation”
  • 4.4.5 “Manage returns; manage reverse logistics”
  • 4.4.6 “Plan material handling and storage”
  • 4.4.7 “Manage inventory storage, location and movement”
  • 4.4.9 “Manage kitting operations

 

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience  
  • Must be a US Citizen due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Vocational Certificate
  • ERP/ MRP expertise particularly for transactional flow
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Value Stream Mapping, & Lean
  • Manufacturing Systems experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience in APICS Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) or equivalent
  • Experince in Transport Management
  • Warehousing, Packaging and Material Handling Equipment experience
