Job Summary

GKN is seeking an individual who is highly motivated and willing to take on increasing responsibilities as we begin the journey towards creating a new Center of Excellence at the STL site for GKN North America IT Windchill administration.  This person will be responsible for maintaining and supporting CAD Data management tools for a variety of Aerospace Programs at the STL site. Tools include PTC’s Pro/Intralink, Windchill PDMLink and Windchill ProjectLink. The Technician will assist internal customers in their regular monthly maintenance activities, Windchill patches and troubleshooting issues.

Job Responsibilities

  • Follow the established project plan, deliver and manage implementations of PTC data management tools, including Pro/Intralink, PDMLink and ProjectLink, on time and within budget.
  • Install and configure Windchill tools including 3rd party software as applicable to customer solutions.
  • Maintain open and clear communication with customers and IT Management 
  • Provide On-Site and future Remote Windchill Administration Support for multiple Windchill environments – this to include but not limited to the following: system monitoring, reviewing systems logs for errors, review Oracle settings, system patches, clean up unreferenced files, maintenance build updates, performance tuning, and issue resolution. 
  • Provide customers with monthly status reports on system status.
  • Maintain clustered platforms including VMWare ESX, Hyper-V, SharePoint Server, SQL Server, Exchange Server, and Storage Server
  • Administer Redhat Linux, SuSe Linux, HPUX, and IBM AIX
  • Maintain system performance by implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Maintain compliance to all GKN IT policies and procedures including Change Management and Software Control
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective performance. 
  • Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned. 



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination education and professional experience
  • 10 years of IT related experience
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements


Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive background and experince with Winchill preferred
  • Windchill PDMLink– Installation and System Maintenance a plus & Preferred 
  • Familiarity of Data management tools 
  • Prior Windchill experience is preferred but will consider candidates needing OJT
  • Potential for this position to transform into a Lead or Management role.
  • This is an on-site position but may consider a remote position anywhere in the USA for a strong candidate with > 3 years’ experience with Windchill
  • Excellent written, verbal and collaboration skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, self-starter
  • A Relationship Builder
  • Thorough knowledge on Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2016 infrastructure, Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 and PowerShell, VMWare ESX, and Microsoft Hyper-V 
  • Proficient in Storage Area Networks and disaster recovery 
  • Experienced with enterprise class chassis’, servers, and administration software
  • 0 - 2 years of experience managing product information or components of products with PTC tools 
  • 1 - 2 years system administrator experience (CAD, IT, Data Management) 
  • Knowledge, skill and abilities.  An equivalent combination of education, training and experience considered
  • Good organization and prioritization skills 
  • Ability to manage to deadlines and meet project and corporate goals 
  • Possess understanding of Product Data Management Business Processes
  • Ability to work under pressure and while multi-tasking
