Job Summary

The HR Manager leads the HR function for the GKN Aerospace Structures and Services Corporation in St. Louis within one of the three SSA sites which encompasses a total of number of approximately 800 union and non-union employees; developing and deploying global and local policies and programs for employment, employee engagement, employee development, labor relations, compensation, benefits, employee communications, and employee services.

Job Responsibilities

•    Provide strategic HR leadership and consultation focused on creating innovative HR strategies to anticipate and assess emerging business, organization or people trends and identify and implement the appropriate Human Resources/Diversity & Inclusion solutions. 
•    Proactively assess business and organizational performance to recommend and drive action through a consultative approach. 
•    Participates in the development and implementation of the labor relations strategy and ensure that the strategy is aligned with the company’s overall business goals and objectives.  
•    Promotes a cooperative business focused partnership with local trade unions ensuring that represented employees are aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
•    Leads the development of the site Learning and Development Plan, supports leaders to deliver to the plan and ensures maintenance of training records by managers.
•    Leads the development and deployment of the Leadership Development Plan.  
•    Establishes and implements short and long term objectives for the Human Resources function and leads the creation and deployment of a functional continuous improvement plan.
•    Maintains and improves the local employee handbook.
•    Responsible for the creation and delivery of the AAP.
•    Perform other special or non-routine tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field OR 12 or more years in HR experience in a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree. 
•    10 years of HR Generalist experience in all functional areas of human resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
•    3 years of Labor Relations experience preferably in a manufacturing environment. 
•    Some domestic travel required.
•    Must be a US Citizen due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements. 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    GKN experience
•    Master’s Degree preferred. 
•    Ability to maintain integrity and objectivity, despite internal and external pressures, and make difficult, sometimes unpopular, decisions that are in the best interest of the employees and the company. 
•    Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
•    Experienced with MS Office.
•    Labor relations background and knowledge of employee relations and employment law. 
•    Strong working knowledge of employment laws. 
•    Experience in a facility related role in the aerospace industry a plus.
•    Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills. 
•    Demonstrated ability to influence and partner within a diverse organization to help drive business results.
