Sitting within our Defence Airframes business line at our Portsmouth manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1990, it’s one of our newer locations with a workforce of circa 200 employees. Our Portsmouth site is a leading technology provider for the aerospace, marine and military markets. We supply an extensive range of specialist fuel tanks and flotation systems, as well as engineering expertise and support for fixed and rotary wing aircrafts, land vehicles, missiles, UAVs, torpedoes and marine vessels.  Our customer base includes Airbus, BAE Systems, Bell, Boeing, General Automics, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Saab, MOD.

Job Summary

As a Material Handler, reporting into the Logistics Team Leader you’ll join the logistics team supplying parts to the manufacturing environment and take responsibility for:

 

  • Following standard work for material handling (e.g. receiving, shipping, warehousing)
  • Performing all activities in accordance with safety and quality rules and there may be a requirement to spend time in sub 25 degree temperatures for periods of time.
  • The use of adequate equipment to move material such as forklift, tow train
  • Keeping records movements of material in the transactional records systems (e.g. receipt, booking….)
  • Making proposals to improve safety, quality and efficiency

 

 

Job Qualifications

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

 

  • Expert level for Internal Flow & Warehousing
  • Use of Material Handling Equipment; Forklift License desirable, although not essential
  • Inventory Management
  • Transport Management
  • Inbound and Outbound Operations
  • Driver’s license preferred
  • Computer literate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel, Outlook and Word
