Job Summary

As the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager you’ll join the Portsmouth manufacturing site reporting to the Site Director. You’ll take responsibility for managing and developing Health, Safety and Environment systems, processes and procedures for the site ensuring the site is operating at best practice levels and ensure we fully meet our statutory obligations at all times. You’ll champion best practice, compliance and provide leadership, support and guidance to the senior management team on areas within their remit. This will include:
•    Leading and deploying the GKN Aerospace HSE policies and procedures throughout the site
•    To develop and implement the site HSE Continuous Improvement plan to meet the objectives for site, Region and GKN Aerospace 
•    Being an advocate for behavioural change initiatives and behavioural programme roll out
•    Reporting and managing all incidents with appropriate agencies and GKN Aerospace
•    Ensuring statutory compliance of the site
•    Setting targets for site HSE performance
•    Providing reports as required on site HSE performance
•    To manage Risk Assessment activities at the site, identifying hazards and aspects
•    To support Health and Safety and Environmental site certifications as required
•    Ensuring employees are trained and competent in relation to HSE

How You'll Contribute

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

•    Demonstrable experience of site management in the remit of Health, Safety and Environment 
•    Experience within an industrial manufacturing, chemical or assembly operations environment
•    NEBOSH Diploma 
•    Experience in behavioural role out programme
•    Understanding of industry, national and local HSE requirements
•    Understanding of ISO certifications (14001, 45001)
•    Good communication and people skills, with ability to lead and influence
•    Proficient with Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
•    Problem solving and investigation skills


•    Experience of leading projects from inception to completion  
•    Presentation skills
•    Experience within Aerospace

Please note the working hours for this role are 7.30am till 4.15pm Monday to Friday with every second Friday a non-working day ‘Free Friday’.
