Join as a Technology Project Manager

GKN’s Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Papendrecht, the Netherlands is a state of the art technology research and manufacturing process development facility which is a hub for world-class innovative technology for the next generation of fuel-efficient aircraft.

As a Technology Project Manager, your purpose is to lead multimillion-pound, collaborative research and technology development projects. You will develop strategic capability, secure major new business wins and open up new markets to improve current business performance.


The role will lead a multi-disciplined team of technologists and engineers to deliver projects in Research & Technology development targeting differentiating manufacturing processes in the field of assembly, automation, composites, metallics, and electrical systems technology. Primary you will interface with partners, customers and government bodies, in managing a successful program.

Job Responsibilities

  • Delivering the programme plan, to cost, schedule and quality.
  • Stakeholder management, Lead key relationships within the programme and resolve all matters relating to the performance of the programme
  • Risk management, manage mitigation plans for all programme level risks
  • Reporting, Chair quarterly review meetings, presenting programme summary to the assigned monitoring officer and managing the recovery of associated grant funding. Prepare and submit all GKN reports required during project closure. Communicate key programme information across GKN.
  • Collaboration, Support the technical team in developing and progressing partner level collaboration opportunities and integrating across GKN R&D centres and manufacturing sites
  • Manage scope to ensure GKN and partner objectives are clearly defined & apply controlled change management when there is a need to variate; communicating this to clearly to funding bodies via formal Project Change Requests.
  • Supply chain management and all associated opportunities and risks

Essential:

  • Degree-qualified or higher engineer with significant industrial experience.
  • Experience leading complex technical projects
  • Excellent communication skills- both formal presentation and informal coaching approaches
  • Able to process large bandwidth of project information, filter noise and demonstrate initiative to address key opportunities, issues and risks.
  • Highly skilled in operation of Microsoft Excel, SharePoint and Project applications. Tactile & numerate aptitude.
  • Detailed understanding of project principles and terminology, qualified in PM
  • Experience operating in an Agile PM environment
  • Experience building resilience and agility into project & programme systems

  • Has a high level of emotional intelligence
  • PM Qualification
  • Understand purpose and terminology ref Non-Disclosure Agreements and Collaboration Agreements and other legal documentation
  • Understanding of Technology Readiness maturity and supporting processes
  • Has a high level of executive disposition/gravitas
  • Previous experience in a similar role desirable with supporting evidence to demonstrate a match to the ‘key responsibility’ requirements including project management and people skills, computer literacy, financial and scheduling coordination
