Job Summary

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the execution of the functional design of electrical wiring interconnections, i.e. EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnect System). You play a pivotal role for design and build programs, controlling and monitoring progress, scope, cost and configuration in a multi-disciplinary team.

This position is part of the EWIS Functional Design (EFD) team, where responsibilities include analyzing design requirements, conducting trade-off studies, making design decisions, and designing wire harnesses constructions and interconnections (From-To definitions). Also, processing of aircraft systems data packages (files), write technical reports and contribute to continuous functional improvements of our Engineering tooling environment through integration and concurrent engineering with international teams, system suppliers and our customers.

Reporting to the Centre of Competence Manager – EWIS Functional Design, you will receive day-to-day guidance from an Engineering Team Lead within the applicable design and build project/program or you will take this responsibility in case of a small project team. The primary workplace is GKN Fokker Elmo in Papendrecht.

What You Will Do

Understanding of:

  • Design processes and methods / standards
  • Requirements validation
  • (International) drawing standards and methods
  • System design (components, constructions, schematics, wiring diagrams)
  • Wiring harness functional design
  • Integration aspects of design
  • Design verification (reporting of deviations)
  • Configuration management principles

Fundamental knowledge of:

  • Aircraft and systems
  • Environmental conditions in aircraft
  • Interconnection systems
  • Basics of electronics and mechanics
  • Engines harnesses is a big plus

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace industry,
  • Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary international engineering environment,
  • Proficiency with Electrical design software (for Aerospace applications),
  • Proficiency in MS office: (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio).

  • Assertiveness: Willingness to learn and to broaden own knowledge; takes initiative to help improve processes and procedures
  • Teamwork: Able to work constructively in a small team taking responsibility for assigned tasks and willing to support other team members in achieving team targets and deadlines
  • Results-driven: Able to plan own work in line with project schedules, reports progress regularly and timely in the event of issues or delays
  • Communication: Fluent Dutch and English in speech and writing, ability to communicate clearly and concisely (including technical reports) with a reasonable amount of flair / forthcomingness
