About the role

This role is all about influence. We are seeking a subject matter expert in Quality Systems – one who can be our Regulatory Knowledge Compliance Lead, but that’s only the starting point. This person will help us steer the business. They will ensure we maintain exemplary business and product quality, influencing decision-makers to ensure quality is embedded across the business. This is a role for someone who can build strong, trusting relationships and is comfortable sharing their expertise: you will liaise between GKNA and the regulatory 3rd parties to understand strategic direction, provide GKNA input into the development and change of standards and publications and share knowledge to best enable GKNA to adapt and develop/implement best practices. As a subject matter expert for the organization, you will advise on policies, compliance and risk to ensure GKNA are included as certified/approved entities. You will ensure QMS/BMS are compliant to requirements, adequate to needs and effective to objectives. As well as contributing to audit planning for compliance (including training and coaching others on the requirements), you will make a strategic difference to the business through supporting far-reaching improvement projects.

This position can be based in the Netherlands or Sweden, but will preferably be based in the UK
 

Your responsibilities

  • Be the GKN Aerospace subject matter expert in a specific area of Business and Quality Management Systems relating to regulatory and 3rd party requirements e.g EASA Part 21G, EASA/EMAR Part 21J, AS9100, EASA/EMAR/FAA14 CFR Part 145.  
  • You liaise with the regulatory/ 3rd parties such as EASA/FAA/IAQG to understand strategic direction, future changes and manage/provide GKN Aerospace participation/input into development and updates of standards and other relevant publications.
  • You define plans and policy proposals based on external and internal trends and factors relating to area of expertise.
  • You support the Quality Systems Audit and Development teams in the development of strategic audit approach and audit checklists to ensure QMS/BMS compliance and effectiveness.  
  • You provide expert support to the GKN Aerospace and included certified/approved entities to answer their questions on compliance or review non conformances
  • You support the organisation with 3rd party certification/surveillance audits in order to obtain/maintain certifications and approvals 
  • You identify and share opportunities for improvement and best practices to help ensure the continual improvement of the GKN Aerospace and included certified/approved entities QMS/BMS
  • You support the GKN Aerospace Global Process Owners, Global Standards Manager, Quality Excellence Development Leads and site leadership teams to plan, develop and review suitable means of compliance such as Global Standards and certified/approved entity QMS/BMS documented information and performance data to ensure QMS/BMS compliance and effectiveness.
  • You propagate the Quality Culture across GKN Aerospace.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Subject matter expertise and detailed demonstrable domain knowledge of Aviation Regulations (EASA, FAA etc) & 3rd party quality requirements (AS9100 etc.).
  • Thorough understanding of how to translate requirements into effective Quality/Business Management Systems.
  • Knowledge in the use of risk based methods and techniques (ISO 13000) for QMS/BMS development, audit planning and management;
  • Skills to develop and deploy training courses to support knowledge share and conformity to job profiles of relevant functions.
  • Project management skills to perform/support improvement projects in area of expertise.
  • An effective communicator with experience in networking and stakeholder management 
  • IT skills: Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Thorough understanding of the content and application of the IAQG /  ISO Standards and IAQG
  • Appropriate ‘Executive disposition’ to represent GKN Aerospace in external organisations & forums.
  • Mentoring & coaching skills necessary to develop others. 
  • Industry experience within a Manufacturing environment (APQP) preferably aerospace/automotive. 
  • Knowledge of Business Process Management and the APQC Process Classification Framework.

In this role you are able to act as a business partner for all Leadership Team members on every site, have knowledge of business administration, BMS systems, audits, compliance and aviation regulations/standards. You are a good communicator and are able to influence your stakeholders
