About the role

As our Program Manager you are responsible for the execution of the business case and contract in line with requirements and the agreed scope.  You support the Program Director with NPI activities up to and including Lifecycle Gate 7 and with on-going management activities of the program from Lifecycle Gate 7 and beyond.  The program includes stand up of production restart of major F-16 assembly and MRO capability for F-35 across 2 GKN sites; Helmond and Papendrecht.  You report to the Program Director in the Defense Business Line, who is based in the USA.


Your responsibilities

•    You support the execution of the program (including changes) to comply with all the business case and contractual requirements for their products.
•    You are responsible for continuously monitoring the performance of the allocated programs, managing off-track items and for reporting progress through the PPS.  
•    You create Program Improvement Plans including cost improvement, pricing initiatives, enable Zero Defects Manufacturing,
      redesign initiatives, gaining agreement with relevant stakeholders.
•    You providee input to make, move, buy decisions and strategic procurement decisions.
•    You ccts as the voice of the customer.
•    You support the PD / VP in defining the vision, strategy, budget for the program to optimize cash flow, profitability and growth.
•    You adhere to all program management standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Program Management framework
      and contribute to process development. 
•    You actively execute Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management to control and mitigate the risk exposure and take advantage of opportunities.
•    You support the PD in the proposal process. 
•    You are responsible to integrate functional teams to align execution including design and manufacturing engineering, operations, supply chain, etc
•    You are responsible to coordinate commercial and technical issues and requirements with the customer.
•    You are responsible for planning and performance of Life Cycle Gate, including preceding Reviews.
•    You are responsible for updating Sales / Demand Plan and initiate demand management for serial purchase orders.
•    You undertake any other activity required to ensure successful delivery of the program.
•    You coordinate with customers at Lockheed Martin and Dutch Government and partner with key industry corporations to support new MRO business endeavors.

What do you need to be successful in this role?


  •      BS degree in engineering, manufacturing, or business
  •      Ability to create, manage and execute project plans.
  •      Strong communication skills.
  •      Ability to achieve by influencing others.
  •      Experience in commercial, engineering or operations within the Aerospace industry.
  •      Ability to build relationships with customers and other external stakeholders.
  •      Financial acumen.
  •      Understanding of the business models within Aerospace. 
  •      Either completed or registered for acknowledged Program Management Certification.



  •      Experience within Operations. 
  •      Experience in Structures Fabrication and Assembly
  •      Ability to build and lead teams.
  •      APM, Prince2 or equivalent Project/Programme Management Qualification
  •      MS Office skills
  •      MRO experience 
  •      MS Project
