Job Summary
The Programme Director is responsible for the execution of the business case and contract in line with requirements and the agreed scope. Overseas the Programme Management team with NPI activities up to and including Lifecycle Gate 7 and with on-going management activities of the programme from Lifecycle Gate 7 and beyond. Supports the Programme Manager with Change Control Board activities.
Role Purpose
The NH-90 Programme Director is accountable for the execution of Fokker’s workshare for the NH-90 Helicopter programme within the Netherlands, across multiple sites, alongside a small number of other Programmes in the Netherlands.
The NH-90 is significant programme, working closely with the NHI partner companies (Airbus and Leonardo) to ensure the successful development, build and in-service support of a growing fleet of helicopters, with a multitude of military operators.
The programme includes the design, engineering, manufacturing and sustainment of the NH-90 platform.
• This is a key leadership role, with approximately indirect program management reports.
• Responsibility for all programme related communication and day to day management with the partner companies.
• The PD is accountable to execute the NPI activities up to and including Lifecycle Gate 6, and in conjunction with Operations from Lifecycle Gate 7 and beyond.
• Accountable for Leading the Change Control Board and ensuring the smooth execution of all program changes in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
• The ultimate responsibility is the execution of these key programmes (meeting financial targets and quality/delivery requirements) while leading a team of Program Management professionals.
• PD has the responsibility to make sure that all responsibilities is taken care of by the decided roles in the local IPT.
Key Accountabilities
Senior-level interface with customer leadership on all aspects of programme. Accountable for the execution of the programme, including changes, in compliance with the business case and contract, throughout the complete life cycle
And responsible for the proposal process of follow on work including changes
• Supports the execution of the programme (including changes) to comply with all the business case and contractual requirements for their products.
• Responsible for continuously monitoring the performance of the allocated programmes, managing off-track items and for reporting progress through the PPS.
• Creates Programme Improvement Plans including cost improvement, pricing initiatives, enable Zero Defects Manufacturing, redesign initiatives, gaining agreement with relevant stakeholders.
• Provides input to make, move, buy decisions and strategic procurement decisions.
• Acts as the voice of the ‘partnership’ companies.
• Supports the Defence VP (Europe) in defining the vision, strategy, budget for the program to optimize cash flow, profitability and growth.
• Adheres to all program management standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Programme Management framework and contribute to process development.
• Actively executes Risk, Issue and Opportunity Management to control and mitigate the risk exposure and take advantage of opportunities.
• Supports the Commercial Director in the proposal process.
• Responsible for planning and performance of Life Cycle Gate, including preceding Reviews.
• Responsible for updating Sales / Demand Plan and initiating demand management for serial purchase orders.
• Responsible for undertaking any other activity required to ensure successful delivery of the program.
Job Requirements
Several years’ experience in the Defence business with demonstrated experience and successful program execution of OEM programmes.
• Significant experience in commercial, finance, engineering or programme management disciplines
• Must possess a comprehensive knowledge in all functional disciplines and be proficient in the fundamentals of Programme Management, finance and LEAN principles.
• Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead, coach and mentor highly skilled and experienced direct reports.
• Broad understanding of the Aerospace industry and Defence market.
