Job Summary

The Program Director is accountable for the execution of the contract(s) in line with all business case and contractual requirements. Accountable to execute the NPI activities up to and including Lifecycle Gate 6, and in conjunction with Operations from Lifecycle Gate 7 and beyond. Accountable for Leading the Change Control Board and ensuring the smooth execution of all program changes in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.

Role Purpose

The Program Director is accountable for the execution of the Boeing Defense, Raytheon, General Atomics, and Bell programs within the Netherlands.
Programs include the design, engineering, manufacturing and sustainment of platforms such as:  Boeing AH-64, Boeing P-8, Boeing E-7, Boeing Chinook CH-47, General Atomics MQ-9, Raytheon MK-30 missile, and the Bell V-22 and V-280.

  • This is a key leadership role, with approximately 10 direct program management reports supporting an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure.
  • The PD is acccountable to execute the NPI activities up to and including Lifecycle Gate 6, and in conjunction with Operations from Lifecycle Gate 7 and beyond.
  • Accountable for Leading the Change Control Board and ensuring the smooth execution of all program changes in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders.
  • The ultimate responsibility is the execution of these key programs (meeting financial targets and quality/delivery requirements) while leading a team of Program Management professionals.
  • PD have the responsibility to make sure that all responsibilities is taken care of by the decided roles in the local IPT.

Key Accountabilities

Senior-level interface with customer leadership on all aspects of multiple programs
Accountable for the execution of the program, including changes, in compliance with the business case and contract, throughout the complete life cycle
And responsible for the proposal process of follow on work including changes

  • Leadership, Mentorship, and Development of a team of Program Managers 
  • Chairs the Change Control Board and the Life Cycle Gate.
  • Responsible for contract claims, changes, and key commercial matters 
  • Accountable for Customer Demand input to MPS and SIOP.
  • Establish joint program schedule with Operations in line with Contract requirements
  • Support improvements to the program in collaboration with stakeholders, for example improvements to product performance and cost and Make/Buy.
  • Delivers program financial results in accordance with agreed KPIs and targets.
  • Acts as the voice of the customer with all GKN internal stakeholders.
  • Partners the VP in defining the vision, strategy, objectives, operational plan and budget for the program.
  • Adheres to all Program management and Commercial standards and policies in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Program Management framework and contribute to process development. 
  • Actively manages risk and opportunities to mitigate risk exposure and realize opportunities.
  • Acts as the point of escalation for Program Managers to resolve customer issues.
  • Accountable for New Product Introduction up to and including Lifecycle 7 and beyond and for planning and performance of Life Cycle Gate, including preceding Reviews.
  • Develop the IPT as a team in order to maximize the effectiveness of the program. 

Job Requirments

Several years experience in the Defense business with demonstrated experience and successful program execution of US-OEM programs

  • Significant experience in commercial, finance, engineering or programme management disciplines, to include US Department of Defense regulations
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge in all functional disciplines and be proficient in the fundamentals of Program Management, finance and LEAN principles. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation, organizational and communication skills. 
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor highly skilled and experienced direct reports. 
  • Broad understanding of the Aerospace industry and US Department of Defense programs.
