The Vacancy
We are looking for a Process Engineer to join the Surface Treatment and Enfancement Department of Fokker Landing Gear in Helmond.
Here, we treat the landing gear parts with- among others - chrome, nickel and cadmium plating. Before enhancement and after electroplating, parts are checked for faults by NDT, they are shot-peened for increasing fracture toughness, and painted for final assembly. To support and further develop these special processes, we are looking for you, a curious, enthusiastic and passionate Manufacturing Engineer specialised in Materials & Processes, to join our dedicated team in Helmond.
Fokker Landing Gear
Fokker Landing Gear, part of GKN Fokker, is a recognized specialist in landing gear and related systems. We focus on the design and development, production and assembly of complete landing gears, as well as the repair and reassembly of systems already in use. In doing so, we work on the most famous aircraft and helicopters; think of the Apache combat helicopter, the F-35 Lightning II (JSF), the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 and the multipurpose NH90 maritime combat helicopter.
What You'll Do
- Analyze product specifications, defining methods for processing and drawing up process- and processing instructions for products, which will be galvanized, NDT, Paint and Shot-peened,
- Manage tooling design and production,
- Analyze, understand and solve deviations in the production process in a structured manner,
- Develop and improve processes and production methods,
- Introduce and support the start-up of new processes,
- Train operators and spreading knowledge within the organization,
- Perform the periodic tests that are needed to continue the plating processes, in case of the absence of the plating lab technician,
- Participate in project teams, audits and consultations with customers and suppliers as an expert on galvanic processes.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor or master studies (HBO/WO) in Chemical Technology with a passion or background for mechanical engineering (metallurgical),
- 10+ years' experience in a similar job,
- Relevant knowledge and experience in electroplating process techniques,
- Relevant knowledge and experience with NDT, Shot-peen and paint processes,
- Strong documentation/reporting skills,
- Analytical, accurate and mind-set for high quality,
- Pragmatic and a solution-oriented attitude,
- Team player, hands on attitude and mindset,
- Fluency in Dutch and English, both writing and spoken.
