As a Groupleader, you lead team leaders and are responsible for your Unit. You will develop team leaders into first-class production leaders and foster a culture of continuous improvement, safe working practices, and open dialogue. About the job

As Groupleader, you directly manage a team of team leaders and indirectly over 100 Operators and Inspectors. Together with the team leaders, the Groupleader ensures that everyone is able to perform his/her work as well as possible. You support and guide the team leaders in solving problems.
Safety is our highest priority and in this you are a role model. You are responsible for on-time-delivery and improving performance through engaged employees such as productivity and good product quality. In this position you will work with multidisciplinary teams (colleagues from different functions such as work preparation, engineering, technical service) to achieve the objectives.
GKN Fokker Elmo is scheduled to move to the already existing site in Papendrecht at the end of 2023. Here a central site will be realized to which both the production activities of Hoogerheide (cable harnesses) and Helmond (Landing Gears) will be transferred. The main challenges for the site are to promote employee involvement, boost production and streamline processes.
 

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for achieving People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) objectives through the disciplined application of the Lean Operating Model. Consider Master Schedule Adherence (delivering on time) and striving for Zero Defects against the set budgets/demand of the programs.

  • Creating and maintaining a culture based on the GKN Aerospace "Great Place To Work", safety, respect trap and caring, open and honest, innovative, ownership.
  • Coaching and developing Team Leaders.
  • Oversee the proper implementation of health, safety and environmental policies GKN Aerospace.
  • To be actively involved in problem solving using a 'Go to Gemba' approach with the ambition that 98% of problems can be solved within the area itself.
  • Contribute to the site strategy through the Hoshin Kanri process (strategy implementation) and ensure its implementation in their assigned areas

Own the common site interest actively seek collaboration with other Groupleaders and functions to ensure the best results for the entire site.
Ensure the disciplined execution of Daily Management and standardized work through the rigorous adherence to Leader Standard Work.
Drive and facilitate the engagement of all team members, ensuring that engagement actions are defined, implemented and followed up on

How you'll contribute

As a Groupleader, you have a proven track record of achieving results in a changing environment, a keen eye for continuous improvement and the ability to develop teams through intensive coaching. You are able to bring structure, see it through and make it happen.

  • People-oriented; developing people, making and keeping them accountable, rewarding top performance individually and taking action on underperformance.
  • Process-oriented; keeping agreements about how we do things. What is the standard? And after that, how can we improve the standard?
  • Continuous improvement, always looking, how can we do better. What does it take to deliver more, have fewer quality problems?
  • Above all, ownership of your unit. Not "waiting for" but actively looking for.
     

Skills and competencies

  • A completed Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop Team Leaders and team members.
  • Consistently work to standards as defined in the site Business/ Quality Management System (B/QMS).
  • Proficiency in the English language (written and verbal).
  • Experience with a Lean Operating Model/ Production System.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in manufacturing/ operations and at least 5 years experience in 
  • people management and demonstrable experience in improving processes within an operations environment.
