About the role

As our commercial manager for civil airframe you provide commercial leadership and direction for your program customer accounts and interface with the customer on all relevant contractual matters. Your clients will be Honda, Gulfsteam and Cessna.
You will work in tandem with the Program Director to drive new business opportunities taking accountability for the commercial viability of each opportunity.You play a a key role in negotiation strategy and execution of the strategy and take the lead on claims management. You will also act as an escalation point for commercial resolution of customer issues. This position is preferably based in Papendrecht, but can also be based in the USA (east coast)

Your responsibilities

  • You take the lead role in identifying and managing risk, through contract negotiation, change management, ensuring appropriate pricing and protection is in place. 
  • You contribute to the development and implementation of a commercial strategy.
  • You ensure that the appropriate policies and procedures for successful Commercial practice are adhered to.
  • You manage the interface between GKN and its customers to resolve day-to-day commercial issues and build a strong customer relationships. 
  • You take responsibility and accountability for the commercial performance of the program.
  • You are a mentor to other members of the commercial team to increase the knowledge and skill base.
  • You ensure effective commercial change management control, pricing, negotiation and contracts are in place.
  • You ensure customer overdue debt is minimized and that customers pay in accordance with their contractual obligations.
  • Where possible you maximize cash flow through contracting arrangements with the customer.
  • You ensure that all bids and proposals are prepared in accordance with the GKN Aerospace Bid Process.
  • You take responsibility and lead in review and negotiation of terms and conditions

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • You are experienced in contract lifecycle management and have “field” experience as contract manager in Aerospace- or Manufacturing industry
  • To be successful, you have good communication skills and the ability to build an optimal network
  • You have a good knowledge of the English language, both written and verbal 
  • You have legal knowledge
  • You have a degree suitable for this role
  • You are a sparring partner for stakeholders and able to bridge the gap (if any) with the day-to-day operations 
  • You have technical knowledge preferably in Aerospace or manufacturing industry
  • You are creative in capturing risks and opportunities, and able to translate them into sound contractual terms and conditions 
  • You are open to travel occasionally to your international customers
