GKN’s Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Papendrecht, the Netherlands is a state of the art technology research and manufacturing process development facility which is a hub for world-class innovative technology for the next generation of fuel-efficient aircraft. As part of the Program Core Team (PM, CE, CME, Procurement/SC, Finance), we are seeking to recruit a Chief Engineer to manage the overall engineering activities to meet the overall Program and Business Objectives. The Chief Engineer will report hierarchically and functionally to the Head of Chief Engineering and operationally to the Program Manager(s).
 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage development activities in the (pre-)conceptual phase and full-scale development phase of program to achieve world class technical solutions meeting program objectives (Weight, RC, NRC)
  • Ensure (continued) Airworthiness of the product design in accordance with applicable Certification specifications
  • Act as primary focal point for external customer (major) technical Issues
  • Set up Engineering Project Organisation (WBS/OBS/CBS)
  • Implement and execute cost & schedule control including change & scope control
  • Provide day-to-day operational management to the engineering (management) team 
  • Provide effective communication within the (Program) team and stakeholders outside the team

How you will contribute

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:


Essential:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in (Aerospace) Engineering or equivalent 
  • Experience gained within an engineering discipline, ideally within an aerospace environment and in multi-disciplinary engineering project teams 
  • Experience with managing (complex) engineering projects 
  • Previously held (internal) technical approval authority 
  • Experienced in project management and planning using recognised project management methods


Desirable:

  • Completed Project Management Training / Courses
  • Having worked in multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary teams in an international setting
  • Experience with developing and coaching people
