The vacancy: Airworthiness Engineer

We have a new spot available for an Airworthiness Engineer to join the Product Assurance Centre of Competence based in Papendrecht. The Centre of Competence - Product Assurance is one of the six engineering departments within the Design Engineering group focused on Defense programs. What's the purpose of the role? The certification (airworthiness requirements) and qualification (performance) of aircraft parts in accordance with applicable guidelines and procedures. 
As an Airworthiness Engineer, you will work for the qualification of GKN Fokker products in accordance to (inter-) national procedures and guidelines. You will be responsible for the company's compliance statements, for identifying qualification risks and deviations when compared to internal/international organization and you will ensure compliance with procedures, company rules & safety, quality, environmental, security & export compliance regulations. The above tasks will be performed while protecting the company's intellectual property and NATO restricted/secret data. 

What you'll do

Advice & Analysis

  • Provide advice on new qualification processes, options and company specific methodologies to obtain a consistent qualification file,
  • Analyse internally & internationally obtained information and documentation, including this from System Engineering, Configuration Management and international partners, in order to determine which qualification documents must be drawn up,
  • Examine Change Requests (from customer/partner company/internal) and determine the classification of the change,
  • Evaluate a (proposed) means of compliance checklist (MCC) and determine consistency with previous checklists.

Qualification

  • Determine, upon consultation with customer and partners, how the requirements will be qualified, the type of qualification documents that will be supplied and determining the international planning of these documents,
  • Determine which qualification documents need to be created and coordinating this contribution with partners, customers and authorities,
  • Verify all technical substantive supporting documents against the product data and qualification basis (incl. underlying documents) and process them into a compliance statement for the product,
  • Prepare reports to the customer, authorities and partners,
  • Draw up all non-technical reports associated with the qualification process,
  • Assess all (inter-)national documents and ensure completion/correctness,
  • Collect/archive accepted qualification and distribute internally,
  • Support planning, organizing and recording of (inter-)national reviews, 
  • Record & document all process steps in systems.be performed while protecting the company's intellectual property and NATO restricted/secret data. 

What you'll bring

As an Airworthiness Engineer, you are a self starter with sharpened interpersonal skills, so that you are able to efficiently liaise with internal & external stakeholders during all steps of the qualification process. Next to this, we expect you to have a high level of problem solving skills as well as a proactive and result driven attitude. In order to perform your job, you will also need a high level of engineering knowledge, but also awareness of other disciplines (e.g. stress, design, configuration management).

Furthermore, we expect you to meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in (Aerospace) Engineering,
  • Experience in writing technical, customer-oriented reports,
  • Fluency in English,
  • Knowledge of aviation qualification/certification requirements (EMAR/EASA Part 21 and FAR/CS 29 or equivalent),
  • Experience working in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams,
  • Being able to acquire an in-depth knowledge of the product,
  • Good understanding and adherence to procedures, business rules and safety, quality, environmental, security & export compliance regulations,
  • Living in the Netherlands (vicinity of Papendrecht) or willing to relocate.

Assessment of checks and screenings can lead to the fact that no content can be given to the position and therefore no employment or deployment can follow. The onboarding at Fokker usually takes 4 weeks.
