Job Summary

The Team Leader is responsible for leading and directing a multi-functional and/or multi-shift team of technicians engaged in the fabrication and delivery of GKN Aerospace products. Position will emphasize total employee involvement through; team building and accountability, skill development and technical training, quality focus, cost management, delivery schedule and customer satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

To assist Supervision and Value Stream Management in the following:

  • Provide leadership and coordination of activities associated with an assigned product line or department by:
  • Preparing and implementing plans that optimize the use of available resources.
  • Developing innovative problem resolution processes and encouraging new ideas and methods.
  • Ensuring adequate resources are available for the team to produce products that meet established quality, schedule and delivery objectives.
  • Planning with information from the team, operations management, production planning, purchasing, QA, engineering and finance the daily and/or weekly activities and priorities.
  • Develop and maintain for the team a set of clearly defined performance objectives that involve the following areas of individual and team accountability: quality, cost, schedule, process, attendance, workplace safety, cleanliness, and HAZMAT handling & disposal, housekeeping, performance measurements and timely problem resolution.
  • Develop competencies within the department or product line that focus on: technical skills and continuous manufacturing process improvement, developing an understanding of our overall business and financial (cost and asset) management objectives, team communication and problem solving techniques, team flexibility, cross training and motivation.
  • Support the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment by adhering to company policy and various government regulations.
  • Responsible for the completion of Key Job Requirements and other tasks related to this position as assigned by the manager.

 

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

High School Diploma or GED required. An Associate Degree in business management or Industrial Technology desired. Three to Five years work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.  Demonstrated proficiency or training in the following skills: written and verbal communication; analytical and planning skills; computer literacy; team leadership and group facilitation skills required. A working knowledge of manufacturing shop practices; quality processes and procedures; employee relations. Training or work experience in planning and prioritizing multiple tasks and/or work assignments required. Motivation and ability to lead, organize and develop a team.
