Job Summary

Special Process Technician will utilize various industrial tools and will be responsible for the set up and operation of Manual Machining Equipment with tight tolerances. This position must maintain a clean and safe work area and perform a variety of duties including grinding, de-burring, cleaning of parts, cutting and removal of scrap. Must be able to read dimensions and tolerances, and apply to the product process. This position will accurately complete all paper work associated with work orders as well as performing other tasks as assigned in support of the fabrication of the product.

Job Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

• Capable of safely operating Manual Machining Equipment such as conventional milling machines, grinders, polishing tools, mapping tools, gauges and related process equipment.
• Capable of securing products and operating stops and guides for proper alignment
• Must have knowledge of and experience with basic blueprints and drawings.
• Able to use basic measuring devices.
• Must perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered.
• Demonstrates proficiency in reading and executing work orders and QA sheets.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a corporate culture; which supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals, by providing leadership in issues that involve “cost, quality, process, schedule and people."
• Ensure the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
• Fully comply with the "GKN Aerospace, Inc. Policy Statement on Contracting with the United States Government" in all areas of responsibility involving direct and indirect contracting with the United States Government.
• Administer and comply with the Company's human resources policies and procedures to provide fair and equitable treatment for all employees while ensuring optimum productivity and resource utilization.

 

Required Qualifications
• A high school diploma or GED required. A two-year degree in an industrial or manufacturing field and or automotive experience in a plus.
• A minimum of (1) one year of manufacturing work experience performing tasks associated with composite fabrication and/or assembly desired.
• U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance

 

Additional Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability to read and follow written and verbal work instructions
• Capable of performing a wide range of physical activities, some requiring fine manual dexterity
• Demonstrated ability to recognize discrepancies in materials or processes required.
• Ability to work from sketches and use simple measuring instruments, such as tape measures or micrometers
• Knowledge of basic shop math, including addition, subtraction, decimals and fractions.
• Must be willing to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements.
