Job Summary


The Manufacturing Engineer – Metal Forming will provide Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects.

Job Responsibilities


•    Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
•    Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers.
•    Deliver manufacturing process development and integration for production.  
•    Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate waste.
•    Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
•    Continuously improve approach by implementing Lean principles.
•    Responsible for the development of manufacturing process solutions to complex problems through:
o    Implementation of better optimised production processes
o    Developing and deploying APQP principles in alignment with the GKN Zero Defect Manufacturing approach
o    Identify key areas for improvement though structured Industrial Maturity assessments
o    Drive a can do attitude with team members and respect equal opportunities. 
o    Undertake key activities in support of product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition and implementation.
o    Undertakes problem solving in a structured and logical way appropriate to the issue.

Job Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
•    Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing Engineering (including Zero defect manufacturing and Lean experience) 
•    Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.  


Additional Qualifications:

•    Previous GKN experience
•    Experience with Aluminium Metal forming processes – (Forming, Heat Treat, Artificial Ageing) strongly preferred
•    Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (ideally Siemens)
•    Root Cause and corrective action experience
•    Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
•    Drafting and/or AutoCAD experience
•    Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques (Practical Problem Solving, A3, PFMEA and /or Fishbone diagrams)
•    Experience in Composites Manufacturing, including University studies 
•    Project / Program Management
•    Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent
•    Strong communication skills
•    Able to work in a strong team environment
•    Self-starter
•    Fluent in English language, both written and spoken
