Job Summary


The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer – Quality will provide technical expertise at a local project level for operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly, from the bid phase through sustained production.

Job Responsibilities


•    Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
•    Leads positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
•    Colaborate with team to industrialize manufacturing process by incorperating input from the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
•    Analyzes engineering drawings and specifications to determine sequence of manufacturing operations. 
•    Support the develop of inspection fixture and gage designs including in-process models as needed.
•    Support the development of bids through the review of applicable quality requirements and processes. 
•    Resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct advanced root cause investigations.
•    Review, understand and/or define equipment capability for new manufacturing processes
•    Complete capability verification and validation of the processes and or equipment.
•    Ensure project targets are met during Manufacturing Readiness Level/Industrial Reviews.
•    Ensure compliance to quality standards and New Product Introduction (NPI) processes. 
•    Develop standard work for the operators to setup and operate the machine easily and efficiently.
•    Provide local project technical oversight for the development of inspection methods for complex problems. 

Job Qualifications


Required Qualifications: 

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, etc.), in lieu of degree at least 7-10 years of manufacturing quality engineering experience.
•    Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Aerospace Manufacturing or Quality Engineering to include experience with:
•    Customer submittals & approvals (E.G. ESA, SPS/VSE DVI, FAIR & PPAP)
•    Interpretation of aerospace component Drawings, Specifications, and applicable GD&T
•    Inspection methods, use of inspections tools (E.G. Measurement System Analysis & Manual layout) and applicable quality standards (E.G. AS9100, AS9102, AS9145, AS13100 & AS13003)
•    Working with suppliers to evaluate their capabilities and onboarding new parts and processes.
•    Understanding of data collection and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
•      Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.


Preferred Qualifications:  

•    GKN experience.
•    Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office. 
•    Proficient in 3D modeling (NX CAD & Teamcenter preferred)
•    Hands-on manufacturing experience in process testing & process prove-out.
•    Adept in problem solving and process control.
•    Fixture and gage design knowledge.
•    CMM programing experience. 
•    Strong time management and project management skills.
•    Good reporting and communication skills on project status and progress.
•    Proactive in regard to new developments of expertise required.
•    Able to travel domestically or internationally as required.
•    Ability to work successfully within a matrix managed business, able to influence without direct authority.
•    Experience working within a global technical community and interfacing with broader business functions.
•    Desire to build working relationships through team work, leadership, coaching and personal drive.
