Job Summary

 

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer role is a technical lead for Manufacturing Engineering and is responsible for the manufacturing definition and activities within the program/value stream through its lifecycle within the GKN Aerospace North Charlestown, NH facility. 

Job Responsibilities

 

What you’ll do
• Primary representative for program/technical reviews, internally & externally (with customer & suppliers).
• Ensures the manufacturing system meets stakeholder requirements including; technical compliance; adherence to processes and standards and complies with business cases (including quality; delivery and cost).
• Collaborates directly with production manufacturing personnel, purchasing, and quality function in a cross-functional environment working directly on aerospace component machining on milling and/or turning equipment.
• Creates manufacturing plans for producing aerospace parts in milling, turning and assembly.
• Determines materials and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification at lowest cost to the organization.

 

Required Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 1+ years’ experience in manufacturing engineering field.

 

Additional Experience
• 1+ years’ engineering experience in an aerospace environment preferred.
Above average knowledge of machining & inspection methods.

• Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
• Sound knowledge of manufacturing operations & strategies.
• Proficient computer skills Microsoft Office and NX.
• Ability to manage projects to completion and meet deadlines.
• Able to travel internationally as required.
• Ability to work in a self-directed or team environment.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, strong minded and committed.
• Prepared to work on the complete range of GKN Aerospace programs, both civil and military.
• Excellent communication, organizational and teaming skills.
• Strong time management and project management skills.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Documents & prepares work instructions.
• Maintains knowledge of job cost & develops/implements appropriate plans to improve profitability.
• Recommends and introduces process improvements based on statistical analysis.
• Leads in design for manufacturing discussions and proposes changes to reduce cost and improve manufacturability.
• Nonconformance investigations including root cause and corrective actions, assessments of further process improvements.
• Designs, sources, and verifies fixtures used for manufacturing or inspection of parts.
• All other duties as assigned.
