Job Summary

GKN North Charlestown is a state of the art facility utilizing cutting edge technology in the manufacture and development of primarily military aerospace blade and vane components. This Logistics Specialist role supports delivery assurance from global suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction and site performance.

This role defines and reviews KPIs; performs analysis; drives continuous improvement projects; defines methodology and standard work; and manages and monitors performance in the area of logistics and material flow at site level. They can be involved in a combination of any of the following: inbound / receiving, internal material movements, warehousing, outbound / shipping, freight/transport management, cycle counting, inventory management, transactional activities and packaging.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe working environment.
  • Define standard work for logistics activities with the objectives of reducing lead-time, reducing cost, improving customer service (quality and delivery)
  • Define and manage relationship with external partners (suppliers, sub-contractors, freight forwarders, 3PL, customers) in relation to the logistics activities (e.g. receiving/shipping schedules, documentation, EDI etc.)
  • Develop process to ensure transactional activities will guarantee inventory accuracy in the management system (ERP, MRP).
  • Analyse performance and defines action plans to improve in line with the site Supply Chain CI plan.
  • Working with outside suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and tracking.
  • Control of inventory management throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 2+ years of experience in product flow, or Bachelor’s degree in lieu of experience, required.
  • Proficient computer skills, including software such as MS Office, required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience a plus.
  • APICS Basics of Supply Chain Management (BSCM) or equivalent a plus.
  • ERP/ MRP expertise particularly for transactional flow a plus.
  • Experience in one or more the following a plus: transport management, warehousing, packaging, material handling equipment, value stream mapping, lean methodologies, manufacturing systems, project management.
