Job Summary

With direct supervision, an IT Summer Intern will support the company’s computer systems focusing on ERP, end-user application support, and end-user computer support. Maintain and monitor PC software and configurations and provide support to the user community as part of our Help-Desk team. Assist the IT team in supporting Company network and computer facilities operations in all locations. Our summer interns are invited to participate in the GKN Aerospace Intern Development Program hosted virtually over three days with all the US summer & annual interns.

Our Summer IT Interns commit to a 12 week internship starting in June and are expected to work 40 hours a week. Summer Interns are invited to participate in the Internship Development Program which consists of three virtual sessions (June, July, & August) with all US interns focusing on professional leadership development.

Job Responsibilities

    The precise nature of your role will be defined by your skills as well as the needs of the business but your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Support the company ERP and related systems. This may include user and system administration.
  • Diagnose and solve IT-related problems that occur in the operation of the company computer hardware and software systems.
  • Support the company-wide computer system maintenance, disaster recovery, and training plans.
  • Maintain computer supplies area to support the maintenance plan.
  • Install or repair company computers with standardized hardware, applications, and networking software.
  • Interface with manufacturing to provide support for computer-related hardware and software. This may include industrial controls and networks.
  • Perform other related duties as required All other duties as assigned by Manager.

Job Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Computer Science or IT related program.
  • Must have completed your sophomore year or later in your current program.
  • Our summer internship requires you to fulfill 40 hour work week from June to August. Specific dates determined closer to internship start.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Capability to work effectively in a variety of engineering and manufacturing assignments.
  • Keen interest in the Aerospace Manufacturing industry. 
  • Microsoft SQL (queries & Database management) and Crystal Reports Experience are preferred for ERP support.
  • Microsoft Server 2012 R2 AD, Exchange 2013 or above familiarity/experience is beneficial.
  • Effective communication and writing skills.  Attention to detail is critical.
  • Enthusiasm for continuous personal development and leadership opportunities.

  • Must be a US Citizen due to program security clearance requirements and/or SSA requirements.
