Job Summary
The Forge Plant Operator is responsible for operating forging equipement and supporting processes to produce high-quality forged componennts in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner. This roles ensures adherance to production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements while contributing to continous improvement and operational excellence within the forge facility.
The operator works closely with supervisors, maintenance, quality, and material handling teams to meet customer and business objectives.
Job Responsibilities
Production & Equipment Operation
- Operate forging presses, hammers, furnances, trim presses, and related equipement according to work instructions and standard operating procedures
- Load raw material (billets, bars, or performs) into heating furances and transfer heated material to forging equipment safely
- Set up and adjust tooling, dies, and machine parameters as required (based on expereience level)
- Montior equipement performance and make minor adjustments to maintain production efficiency and part quality
- Maintain required production rates while minimizing scrap and rework
Quality & Inspection
- Inspect forged parts using calipars, gauges, templates, and other measuring devices
- Perfrom in-process checks to ensure parts meets dimensional and visual specifications
- Identify and report non-conforming materials or process deviations
- Complete required production and quality documentation accurately and timely
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all plant safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout and hot-work precautions
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as heat-resistent gloves, face shields, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment malfunctions
Material Handling and Workflow
- Transport materials and finished goods using forklifts, hoists, or other approved lifting devices (as certified)
- Stage materials to ensure uninterrupted workflow
- Assist in die changes and setup activites to minimize downtime
Maintenance & Continous Improvement
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventative maintenance tasks
- Support maintenance teams during troubleshooting and repairs
- Participate in continous improvment initatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity
- Provide feedback on process improvements and tooling performance
- Any other job duties as assgined
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of Machining Experience in a manufacutring environment
- Basic troubleshooting skills; such as identifying tooling issues
- Familarity with the use of measuring devices
- Able to multitask
- Must be a US Person (Citizen or Green Card Holder) or have the ability to obtain the necessary Government licensing to work with controlled technology and products
Preferred Qualifications
- GKN Experience
- Ability to read blueprints
- Expereince within an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred
- Expereince with Zimmerman and Siemens Control
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking (At least 7hrs/day)
- Ability to carry and lift weights up to 25lbs
- Bending, squatting, reaching, and pulling required (At least 2hrs/day)
- Use of hands for fine dexterity, light and strong grasping (At least 7hrs/day)
