Sitting across two of our three business lines; Civil and Defence, at our Luton manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1993 with a workforce of cira 400 employees, the site offers a full range of capabilities including design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor.

 

Our customer base includes Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo.

Job Summary

 

As a Team Leader reporting into one of our Group Leaders, you will be accountable for achieving the People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) targets through the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model. In addition you take responsibility for:

 

  • Attaining Operational Excellence across your designated area of responsibility, in line with the Performance Centre objectives.
  • Creating a ‘Great Place To Work’ through developing and empowering first class Team Members and driving a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue.
  • Being Open and Honest when appraising and managing individuals’ performance whilst supporting and coaching individuals to close performance gaps.
  • Active involvement in problem solving and the management system using a ‘Go to Gemba’ approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself.
  • Contributing to the Value Stream future state design, and ensuring its execution across their assigned areas.

How You'll Contribute

 

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with the following skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

 

  • Exceptional performance as a Team member, demonstrating rigorous adherence to standardised work, and a track record of Kaizen implementation.
  • Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding performance targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated potential to lead, engage, train and develop direct reports.
  • An effective communicator and an influential team member.
  • Qualifications in an Engineering or Science discipline would be advantageous.
  • Good standard of English language; oral and written.
  • Experience working with a Lean Operating Model / Production System.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification by a reputable certifying body or benchmark company desirable, although not essential
  • Aerospace supply chain experience.
