The Role:
There is an opportunity, within the Engineering Services team, for a Tooling Design Engineer. The role involves the creation of tooling
designs from initial concept through to production. Among other activities, this will include the development of new and existing tooling,
and general support. The successful candidate will be experienced in a relevant engineering discipline and have a “hands on” approach.
The candidate will also be able to prioritize jobs and be comfortable liaising with suppliers and other departments.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the implementation of tooling, from original concept through to production. Develop such tooling for a high
degree of process capability, utilizing the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
Develop tooling solutions to complex problems.
Responsible for technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production. Resolve issues pertaining
to tooling vendor schedule and/or quality.
Accountable for tooling development, tool fabrication quotes, tooling input for new product quotes, tooling configuration
changes that involve cost estimation, schedule coordination, and implementation.
Modification of existing tooling for continuous improvement.
Support Point Of Introduction activities.
Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
Be compliant with the Company’s Environmental, Health & Safety and Energy procedures.
Any other reasonable duties.

Job Qualifications

Technical expertise in Tooling Engineering.
o Working knowledge of Design for Manufacture and tooling manufacturing technologies.
o Ability to create engineering drawings and an understanding of geometric tolerances and datum features.
o Experience in tooling for composites and / or transparencies.
o Experienced in CAD, 3D modelling (Preferably Catia but training can be given).
Understanding of configuration control. Knowledge of PMD system is advantageous but training can be supplied.
Experience of managing New Product / Process introduction (industrialisation) & existing production process improvements.
Ability to communicate effectively and under pressure, within set time constraints.
Understanding of inspection and calibration methods.
Ability to work in a small team, influence people, build trust and establish effective working relationships with customers and
suppliers.
Fluent in English language, both written and spoken.
Experience of basic office software.
