Job Summary

An exciting opportunity to join GKN Luton in a permanent Quality Engineer role. You will be responsible for leading Quality activities in assigned programmes whilst fulfilling functional tasks to support the business. This role involves building effective close working relationships both internally and externally to influence Quality culture and challenge the ways of working whilst complying with customer and regulatory requirements and being part of the Product Quality department.
 

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance to Tier 1 customers Quality Requirements and regulatory requirements through customer relations . Creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Program Quality Plans
• Leading the completion of internal First Article Activity packs and verifying the integrity of external First Article Activity packs per AS9102.
• Leading both internal/external product Quality audits.
• Assist with daily Material Review Board (MRB) meetings.
• Ensure that all documentation conforms to industry / customer quality standards & supports customer new product needs.
• Act upon Internal NRFT and External NRFT issues with timely containment and robust sustainable corrective actions through root cause corrective action investigations with use of problem solving tools utilizing the GKN Zero Defect Manufacturing methodologies
• Drive continual improvement; internal – external, quality, cost, innovation, delivery and management.
• Devise inspection, testing and evaluation methods.
• Support engineering change management of components / materials.
• Be able to support occasional travel if necessary.
• All employees are required to fully conversant and compliant with the Company’s Health and Safety policies and ensure that all relevant Health and Safety legislation is effectively implemented and managed.
 

Job Qualifications

  • Previous Quality role held.
  • Aerospace/Automotive industry experience within a quality management system approved to AS9100/ISO9001.
  • FAIR/PPAP, flow charts, writing quality procedures/documents.
  • Solid understanding of key problem solving techniques (Fishbone, 5Y, 8D, RCCA etc.)
  • Auditing experience.
  • Familiarity with Quality management systems approved to ISO9001/AS9100/AS9110, Airworthiness regulations EASA 145 & EASA 21-G, the FAA to FAR145 would be advantageous.
