GKN Aerospace needs manufacturing engineers to support state of the art programs, to facilitate new production programs, develop existing programs and provide a support to future programs.

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will be reporting to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer and your role as a Manufacturing Engineer will be supporting the day-to-day Operations Team at Luton.

Job Responsibilities
  • Providing dayday support to manufacturing operations
  • Leading structured problem solving projects linked to dayday manufacturing issues
  • Updating engineering documentation to help maintain configuration control
  • Providing MRB (Material Review Board) support to existing programs ensuring any process deviations or product faults are reviewed and answered
  • Reducing process driven scrap and rework
  • The management of small capital and tooling projects
  • Support continuous improvement activities
  • Provide customer and supplier facing support on improvement and RCCA projects
  • Providing knowledge in composites to the existing team
  • Fully conversant and compliant with the Company’s Health and Safety policies. Ensure that all relevant Health and Safety legislation is effectively implemented and managed


  • At least five years working in a manufacturing facility
  • Have at least three years minimum working with composite materials
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and have a proactive attitude
  • Be resourceful and adaptable
  • A degree in a relevant engineering subject
  • Experience of MRB and in providing frontline support to manufacturing operations
  • Have the ability to interpret customer specifications, drawings and standards to improve our current processes
  • Demonstrable experience of practical problem solving techniques
  • You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation and be flexible in your approach
  • Knowledge and experience in use of Requirements Matrices, PFMEA, APAP, PPAP or similar process life cycle management
  • Excellent IT skills (SAP is desirable)
