Based at our Luton manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 370+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, food hub and vending machines.
GKN is seeking a motivated and resourceful Engineering & Technology Project Support Officer to support the planning and execution of the Luton Technology Portfolio. This will include large and collaborative programmes, including those receiving government grant funding. The role involves establishing a robust support structure to oversee projects, ensuring compliance with external reporting and audit trail requirements.
As Engineering & Technology Project Support Officer the ideal candidate will possess a proactive attitude, with excellent communication skills to engage with busy technical teams and facilitate the fulfilment of project obligations. While proficiency with Microsoft Office products and project terminology is necessary, we value aptitude for numbers, structured processes, and a willingness to learn over formal qualifications.
The position is offered on a 12–14 month fixed‑term contract, providing maternity cover with a handover period to ensure continuity.
There is the requirement to be flexible for occasional travel to GKN Global Technology centre (Bristol), CATAPULT centres (such as MTC Coventry) and consortium partners (various UK). Core working hours at our Luton site are 07:30–16:30 Monday to Thursday and 07:30–12:30 on Fridays. There is the opportunity to work from home up to two days per week subject to business needs.
Job Responsibilities
• Monitor interdependencies between projects;
• Support project leads to analyse and report on project progress, scope and cost against baseline;
• Maintain the project action log and support timely closure of tasks;
• Facilitate PRMs, QRMs and risk reviews;
• Prepare project stakeholders communication, compile accurate progress reports and communicate effectively with team and stakeholders;
• Manage project updates in applicable compilation systems and tools;
• Establish and maintain robust document management in the project and towards stakeholders;
• Compile financial information and generate clear summary reports;
• Assist in managing POR and invoicing processes, including new supplier set-up;
• Support creation, coordination and delivery of (change) proposals;
• Identify and escalate problems for resolution;
• Maintain engineering registers.

• Strong organisation skills, ability to work to deadlines
• Ability to engage with busy technical teams and facilitate the fulfilment of project obligations
Desirable:
• Experience in project management
• Knowledge of financial compilation and reporting.
• Awareness of Purchase Order Requisitions (POR) and invoicing processes.
• Understanding of project terminology and principles

The position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually).
