Job Summary

The Regional Lean Expert (RLE) is a Lean Thinker & Lean Leader with a deep understanding of Lean Transformation. They will play a central role in developing the organization into a Lean. They will train, coach & influence Leadership Teams at their assigned sites, ensuring rigor & fidelity to the site’s Lean Deployment Plan, developing the site’s Lean competence to a level that makes it self-sufficient in the Lean Operating Model. 
 
The RLE is responsible for developing Lean expertise within all of their allocated sites, ensuring that they have high performing Lean expertise, certified at the appropriate level, & that the Performance Centers become self-sufficient in running the Lean Operating Model. 
 
The RLE is responsible for ensuring that the Lean Excellence Model Deployment is delivering the targeted KPI & Lean Maturity improvements across their allocated sites, including significant Conversion Cost improvements (targeting 6% year-on year net improvement).  Exemplifying a safety-first mindset & ensuring that the GKN Aerospace HS & E policies are applied across GKNA & that all locations are world class 

Job Responsibilities

  • Developing first-class leaders who are readily able to progress to the next level of leadership, when required, & who embody the GKNA culture principles
  • Driving the disciplined & rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across all GKNA Performance Centers, with a particular focus on those sites deemed to be HID sites  
  • Coaching Site Leadership teams & Site Lean Deployment Leaders in their deployment of the Lean Excellence Model & the associated site improvements projects & Kaizen Events, in alignment with Hoshin Plans  
  • Delivering significant improvement in People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash & Cost (PSQDCC) targets, meeting customer & stakeholder commitments in their assigned sites
  • Actively sharing best practice sharing across site & regions, building knowledge & best practice networks both internally & externally 
  • Developing deep Lean Expertise across their assigned Performance Centers, ensuring that they become self-sufficient in running the Lean Operating Model, training & coaching to certification, at all levels of the Lean Learning Academy, ensuring that our people are fully certified in Lean Thinking at the appropriate level for their role  
  • Complying with all legal & regulatory requirements & ensuring that staff are aware of the policies & their individual responsibilities & accountabilities:

Job Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR in lieu of degree, 5 years of GKN Aerospace experience
  • 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a Lean Operating Model/Business System
  • Must be a US Citizen. Must comply with ITAR regulations & site SSA requirements.

 
Preferred Qualifications 

  • GKN Experience.
  • Previous & significant experience in multi-site Lean Transformation. 
  • A Lean Certification from a reputable certifying body or benchmark company.  
  • Aerospace supply chain experience.
  • A deep understanding of Lean Thinking & Lean Leadership.  
  • The demonstrated ability to influence at the most Senior Levels.  
  • Ability to lead, coach & mentor highly skilled & experienced team members.
