Job Summary

The Global BMS Configuration Management Lead manages the global standards IT system and other global standards portals to ensure configuration management of all documented information, compliance to the global standards governance processes, enabling access to appropriate personnel, managing global standards training programs and coordination with the certified entities’ global standards configuration mgmt. lead.  They will also be interfacing with key suppliers of global standards portals (e.g. access to global industry standards) to ensure services are provided to meet the business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintenance, configuration management and improvement of the global standards portals. 
  • Ensuring the global standards fulfill the requirements of the industry standards, applicable Aviation Safety laws, customer & GKN Aerospace requirements.
  • Working with the Global Standards Manager and global Architect, Site global standards Configuration Management lead and Global Business Process Owners for the integration, effectiveness and efficient coherence of the global standards with other Management Systems such as the Safety Management System, Health & Safety (ISO 45001), Environmental (ISO 14001), Energy Management (ISO 50001), Information Security (ISO 27001). 
  • The administration of the GKNA Wilbur Quality Systems Learning portal including sponsorship of the QS Training catalogue/course materials and the administration of training feedback assessments and provision of feedback data to the global standards manager / GKNA Quality Council as required. 
  • Supporting global standards Architect, GKNA Global Business Process Owners and associated stakeholders for the definition, deployment, maintenance of the documented information and data deployed Global/Site BMS/QMS including the adoption of robust change control procedures including impact assessments and recommendations against regulatory / Industry standard amendments. 
  • Work with local configuration managers to manage global changes into their local BMS/QMS
  • Recommend to GBPO and the appropriate Regional Audit Manager of any assurance activities deemed necessary in support of global standards activities post deployment of significant document/administration changes.  
  • Provide general global standards support to global standards manager for the management of key global standards/systems meetings, QS induction / training activities, and global initiatives.
  • Interface with key global standards supplier to manage the systems access and ensure availability of documents required by the business.
  • Gather and analyze intelligence and data to enable assessment of global standards, regulatory and quality risks and system effectiveness.
  • Evaluate business processes for the purpose of driving efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Ownership, development and maintenance for sites to share information and enable collaboration such as Sharepoint.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 3+ years of quality management /business management systems (QMS/BMS) experience required.
  • Knowledge of AS/EN9100 and/or ISO 9001 standards required.
  • Able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Industry experience within a Manufacturing environment (APQP) preferably aerospace/automotive, preferred. 
  • Thorough understanding of the content and application of the IAQG / EAQG ISO Standards and IAQG SCMH.
  • Experience with and understanding of the development, deployment and through life management of BMS/QMS and Change Management tools.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • IT skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and the management of Sharepoint sites.
  • Accuracy & Attention to Detail: checks work for errors, performs routine or repetitious tasks with care and attention, and understands the importance of detail.
  • Self-Disciplined: proactive, works systematically, uses time efficiently and has ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the APQC Process classification framework.
  • Ability to build relationships across functional / site teams.
  • Internal or Lead Auditor experience and/or training.
  • GKN Experience preferred.
